My 2021 goals

Strangely, I didn’t write any goals for 2020… it was the first year in well over a decade that I haven’t written down my intentions for the year. It was like I somehow knew it would be pointless to do so. On reflection, you might think that I would be glad that I left out aspirations in a year where nothing went to plan but I feel completely the opposite. I felt lost in 2020 for more reasons than one. Whilst it was a challenging year for me, like many.. I truthfully have struggled to feel like myself for perhaps the last two years - so I can’t go solely blaming COVID-19.

Whilst I have grown exponentially in the last two years, I have also taken steps backwards. I have lost what makes me me… and that’s passion. In 2021 I intend to focus on me and get that back.

When I turned sixteen, I decided that I would write a list of goals for the year ahead. 365 days later on New Year's Eve, I read back through the list and made another. Though my lists have evolved and changed over the years, the intent behind them remains the same - to grow and be a better version of myself.

2021, my wish for you is...
'To put myself first, protecting my energy and time. To set strong boundaries and surround myself with those who align with my values. To never dull my passion, my creativity or sensitivity to please another’
