ON REFLECTION

Overall this year was strange… It had some of the most beautiful moments and some of the hardest.

One of my best friends got married and pregnant this year. Another bought her first home and one found the love of her life.

I bought my first home with my now fiance Ben! Which means of course, we also got engaged.

It’s strange to look back on the year and think that so much happened in amongst so much uncertainty. When I reflect on 2021 I see hope. Hope in the face of adversity.

It was a year that some of the best things to ever happen to me and the people I love came to fruition… and that’s how I’m choosing to always remember it.

MIND

In 2021, as it was for many of us, it was hard to focus on mental health goals. In a year where nothing could be planned, it definitely took a toll on my emotional wellbeing. I definitely did little to no meditation and I struggled to write out weekly or monthly goals. I do want to celebrate the fact that I got through 2021 though… It was a year of extreme highs and lows.

BODY

I went through ebbs and flows with eating consciously this year… I could definitely improve that in 2022. It was much the same with exercise. I absolutely drank less alcohol though with July through to September / October being almost alcohol free.

INFLUENCE

I started a rebrand for personal material but the year really didn’t allow for that to happen seamlessly.

LIFESTYLE

We ended up taking a holiday to Byron instead of Queenstown this year (due to covid restrictions) and in very 2021 style we were locked down after being there for just one day… But it ended up being so much fun. We stayed in a beautiful big house in Suffolk Park with our two best friends and laughed, chatted and relaxed the whole time.

One of the best things to happen in 2021 was purchasing and moving into our first home. I can’t wait to share more of it as we piece it together in 2022. It’s so nice having a space that we can make completely our own. The decorating part of the move has been slow, with furniture delays due to covid. But it’s coming together and I’m so excited to build a home for family and friends to visit.

I’ll be fitting out my office / studio space properly early in 2022 as more items arrive.

RELATIONSHIPS

I definitely called and spoke to my Nana more in 2021 but physcially was kept away due to Covid. That was tough… not being able to just jump in the car and visit when I wanted to. But thankfully we got to spend Christmas together.

I also got engaged this year!! Which truly was one of the best days of my life. 2022 will be about wedding planning.. something I thought I’d never actually do but i’m so excited to celebrate our love with all the people that we love.

WORK

I definitely grew my business substantially this year - I was so fortunate to have more work in a time when so many people had less. I did however write a minimal amount of songs and music really fell by the wayside. It was tough working from an apartment and creating any music when my partner Ben was also working from the same table at home. It was nice to spend that time together though. It made us much closer and I now find myself missing him from to time to time during my work days alone.

FINANCE

I saved a lot more money throughout the year due to being forced to stay in doors but I wouldn’t say I worked within a budget. That’s something that I need to do in 2022. I also spent a substantial amount of money buying things for our home in the back end of the year - but that’s what savings are for!
